Independent Observers of Protests and Demonstrations (IOPD) are appointed by the Police and Crime Commissioner and support him in holding the Chief Constable to account.
These volunteers will get involved in policing by volunteering to independently observe the policing of protests and demonstrations. The role may involve attending briefings in the lead up to events, attending events themselves as an observer and attending post event briefings.
We currently have a number of experienced and dedicated volunteers who work hard to ensure standards are high and that members of the public are well-serviced.
The documents and reports from the Independent Observer of Protests and Demonstration volunteers who have been appointed by the Police & Crime Commissioner are detailed below.
If you are interested in becoming a Independent Observer of Protests and Demonstrations Volunteer, please leave us your details here and we will contact you when we have any vacancies.
