Windmill Hill Youth Club in Runcorn has successfully secured £5,000 from Dan Price, Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s SWAP fund.
The grant enables the youth club to provide a welcoming and safe space for young people to positively engage and learn essential life skills.
In a recent visit to the Youth Club, Dan Price got to see first-hand the positive impact the funding has made to young people in the local community. Dan was invited to embrace his creative side and join a painting class.
Dan Price, Police and Crime Commissioner said:
“I am a keen advocate of providing interventions for young people, enabling them to channel their energies into positive action. Having local youth groups like this one, not only provides a regular safe space for young people, but enables relationships and skills to be built, which can be harnessed further down the line.
“I am committed to reducing crime in any way I can and by having interventions and preventions put into place, we can stop young and vulnerable people being tempted or coerced into a life of crime.”
Paul Oginsky, CEO of Vibe UK said:
“At Vibe UK, we are passionate about creating opportunities for young people to thrive. The funding from the SWAP fund has and will continue to make a significant difference, allowing us to continue providing a safe and inclusive space where young people can build essential life skills, form positive relationships, and unlock their potential. We are incredibly grateful for the support, which not only invests in young people but strengthens the foundations of a safer and more cohesive community.”
Dan launched his £200,000 SWAP fund – Safety, Working together, Action and Prevention – to empower community groups to provide local solutions to help tackle crime. The money is taken from proceeds of crime, which have been seized by criminals, which is then channeled into positive community initiatives.
The fund was originally launched in September 2024 with a funding pot of £150,000. Following the receipt of high caliber applications, the decision was made to increase the fund to £200,000.
