Refuge supports those who have experienced violence and abuse.
They run a range of specialist services to help survivors access safety and rebuild their lives. Expert staff work closely, and confidentially, with every individual to develop a bespoke support plan.
Services
The services Refuge offer are:
- Refuges - providing temporary accommodation for women and children fleeing abuse.
- Support in the community - outreach workers support women in their homes or in a safe place in the community.
- Independent advocacy - independent domestic, sexual and gender violence advocates provide expert guidance for women at the higher risk of injury and harm, of all forms of violence, but particularly to those women who are going through the civil and criminal courts.
- Culturally-specific services - women from minority ethnic groups may face additional barriers to accessing support due to discrimination, language needs or immigration status.
- Gender-based violence services - these services act as the first point of contact for any victim of gender-based violence in a particular local area.
