About the Commissioner

John Dwyer has been married to his wife Zena for 41 years.

He retired as Assistant Chief Constable in Cheshire after a 30 year career which started in Nottinghamshire, followed by a transfer to the West Midlands as a Chief Inspector. He was Assistant Chief Constable in Cheshire before taking retirement and leaving the policing family.

He was the first Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire from 2012 - 2016. He narrowly lost the 2016 election, but was successful in 2021.
