More than 40 Cheshire projects share £150,000 from Police and Crime Commissioner’s community fund

Dan’s SWAP Fund – Safety, Working Together, Action and Prevention – £150,000 pot for communities to bid for.

More than 40 community groups across Cheshire are celebrating a share of £150,000 from Dan Price, Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s community fund.

Dan’s SWAP Fund – Safety, Working Together, Action and Prevention – was originally set at £100,000 but after attracting nearly three times as many applications as the previous round he decided to increase it to £150,000.

It supports grassroots projects tackling issues such as anti-social behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion.

In Chester, Lache Junior FC will expand activities for children through football, homework and games sessions, while Hoole Community Development Trust and Chester Unit 79 Sea Cadets are also among the recipients. Cheshire Roar, a female basketball club based at Blacon High School Sports Hall, will use its grant to grow opportunities for women and girls.

In Ellesmere Port, Cheshire Phoenix Basketball Club will deliver healthy living workshops to more than 1,200 children and Ellesmere Port Darts Academy will improve facilities for young players. Theatre Porto, Blades Down CIC, and The Whitby High School also received support.

In Crewe, Men in Sheds will replace vital workshop equipment, Choose Your Story will help vulnerable and underrepresented women in the town and Jabbin Dabber Boxing Club at nearby Nantwich will buy new weights and fitness gear for youth training.

Across mid Cheshire, Antrobus St Mark’s and Great Budworth Federated Primary Schools are running a wellbeing programme with Cheshire Police, while Middlewich Youth Project and Holmes Chapel Parish Council will provide youth clubs offering sport, music and creative activities.

In Halton and Warrington, projects include Halton Speak Out bringing generations together, The Autism Wellbeing Project supporting autistic adults and Warrington Wolves Community Foundation mentoring young people through its Beyond the Game scheme.

Dan Price, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, said:

“These projects show the power of community action. From sport to creativity and mentoring, they give people purpose and pride, helping to build safer, stronger neighbourhoods for everyone.

“The quality and number of applications this year has been mind blowing. That’s why I increased the SWAP Fund by £50,000, so even more local groups can make a positive difference across Cheshire.”

The fund is financed through the Proceeds of Crime Act, using money seized from criminals operating in Cheshire. In total, Dan has now provided more than £400,000 to support community projects since his SWAP Fund started in September 2024. A further round of funding will open in 2026.
