Cheshire CARES
Cheshire CARES (Cope and Recovery Enhanced Service) is a free victim and survivor support service commissioned by the Cheshire PCC to help anyone affected by crime in the county.
Who can get support?
- Anyone who has been a victim of crime.
- Bereaved relatives, staff if a business is targeted and parents of spokespeople for victims under 18.
- Support is available whether or not you report the crime to police.

Cheshire CARES is open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The service is available seven days a week excluding bank holidays.

The service runs seven days a week, except bank holidays.
After contacting the service, a trained Victim Care Officer (VCO) will carry out a detailed needs assessment. Together with you, they’ll create a tailored recovery plan.
This may include:
- Phone-based emotional or practical support
- Face-to-face support from a community volunteer
- Referrals to specialist victim support providers if needed (e.g. counselling services)
- Signposting to community service or support networks for longer-term help
- Advice on crime prevention as well as practical items like personal, door or window alarms
You can still get support even if you don’t report an incident to the police. Cheshire CARES is available to any victim of crime in Cheshire.
Cheshire CARES works closely with local charities, community groups and other support organisations across Cheshire. If you nee further or more specialist help the team can refer or signpost you to the right services.
If you don’t feel ready for support when first contacted, that’s OK. You can always get in touch again later when the time feels right.
