The Commissioner is responsible for setting out the priorities for the Constabulary in the Police and Crime Plan, holding the Chief Constable to account on the public's behalf, setting the police budget, and commissioning services to prevent and tackle crime and support victims.
The Chief Constable is responsible for operational decisions such as where police resources are directed, the overall police response to crime and major or critical incidents, and the overall day to day running of Cheshire Constabulary.
