Freedom of Information (FOI) & Subject Access Requests (SAR)
This page explains how you can request information from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).
Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act gives you the right to request recorded information held by public authorities, including the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
You can use FOI to request information about:
- our work and activities
- policies and procedures
- spending and decision-making
- services we provide
We also publish a range of information proactively through our Publication Scheme and other transparency pages.
Subject Access Requests
Under data protection law, you have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. This is known as a Subject Access Request (SAR).
A SAR can help you:
- understand what personal information we hold
- check that your information is accurate
- understand how your information is being used
Please note that the OPCC is separate from Cheshire Constabulary. We do not hold police records or criminal record information.
Why this matters?
- promote openness and transparency
- improve accountability
- give people greater understanding of our work
- ensure personal information is managed lawfully and fairly
