Subject Access Requests

This page explains how you can request access to the personal information held about you by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC). Under the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to request a copy of your personal information. This is known as a Subject Access Request (SAR).

What is a Subject Access Request?

A Subject Access Request (SAR) allows you to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

You ca use a SAR to:

  • find out what personal information we hold
  • check that your information is accurate
  • understand how your information is being used
  • request further information about how your data is processed

What information can I request?

You can request personal information that is held by the OPCC and relates to you.

Please note that the OPCC is a separate organisation from Cheshire Constabulary. We do not hold police records, crime reports or criminal record information.

If your request relates to information held by the Constabulary, you will need to contact them directly.

How do I make a Subject Access Request?

To help us process your request, you will need to:

  • provide details of the information you are requesting
  • provide proof of your identity
  • provide contact details so we can respond to you

This helps up to protect personal information and ensure it is only shared with the correct person.
