One of Dan Price’s election promises was to have community led policing plans.
To achieve this, he has begun to roll out his citizens’ assemblies which will involve members from the local community to shape and fulfil Dan’s policing priorities. Ensuring each area’s policing teams know what matters to their residents the most.
Over his term of office, he will run nine citizens’ assemblies which reflects the current neighbourhood policing model of Cheshire Constabulary. These areas are:
The first citizens’ assembly took place in the Crewe Local Policing Unit in the Autumn of 2024.
The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has commissioned Thinks Insight and Strategy (www.thinksinsight.com), an independent research agency, to hold two citizens’ assemblies in Runcorn and Widnes with a representative sample of citizens from within the Local Policing Unit jurisdictions. They will work alongside Plus Four Market Research (www.plus4.co.uk)
Residents will be identified by these two organisations and asked whether they would like to take part.
The workshops tend to be four-hours long, and take place over a 12 week period.
Citizens' assemblies are only one avenue Dan Price is using to understand community views on crime and policing in their area.
Over his term work will be ongoing across the county to ensure residents are getting access to the services they need at the right time.
The programme was awarded a certificate of excellence by the iESE the public sector transformation awards 2025.
