Governance and Case Worker

To provide effective administrative support, to ensure an efficient governance function and the administration and coordination of public contact that supports the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan.

Job purpose

To provide effective administrative support, to ensure an efficient governance function and the administration and coordination of public contact that supports the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure and deliver an effective case management system where correspondence is dealt with in accordance with the Commissioner’s procedures.
  • Risk assess correspondence, liaise with officers in the OPCC and the Constabulary as appropriate in drafting responses in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • In accordance with agreed procedures, produce correspondence for consideration by others and approval by the Commissioner. Where appropriate, reply direct to the correspondent on behalf of the Commissioner.
  • Support the Principal Governance Officer in the delivery of corporate governance, including the production of agenda and minutes and the coordination of actions to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Support the Governance Officer in undertaking the review process of public complaints.
  • Support the Governance Officer in the development of responses to requests for information in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act.
  • With the Personal Assistant, act as an initial point of contact for the public in contacting the Commissioner and act as an escalation point, providing support to staff in ensuring responses are developed and actioned accordingly.
  • Develop effective and efficient systems to record information that is readily available to staff in the OPCC and produce performance reports on the operation of the Case Management System.
  • To maintain an awareness of activities across the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, anticipating demand, highlighting risks and providing support and assistance as necessary to ensure the office delivers the Commissioner’s agenda.
