Information management policies help ensure that information is handled securely, accurately and in line with legal requirements.

They set out how we:

• manage and protect information
• respond to requests for information
• store and dispose of records
• maintain information security

These policies apply to:

• the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC)
• the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (where appointed)
• OPCC staff

This procedure explains how requests can be reviewed if someone is unhappy with the response they have received to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.

The Information Management Strategy explains how information is managed across the OPCC. It supports good record keeping, transparency, information and compliance with legal requirements.

Information Security Policy

The Information Security Policy sets out how information and data are protected from loss, misuse or unauthorised access.

Record retention and disposal

This policy explains how long records are kept and when they can be securely disposed of.

It helps ensure that information is retained only for as long as necessary and managed consistently.
